Kejriwal, however, appealed his partymen to remain calm soon after the incident. He asked them not to resort to any kind of violence.
According to reports, Kejriwal was slapped twice by the attacker, who has been taken away by the police. The identity of the attacker has not been disclosed yet.
Further details into the incident are awaited.
It may be recalled here that Kejriwal, who has been holding rallies and road shows for the past few months, has faced a hostile crowd on several occasions.
The AAP leader, who is contesting against BJP’s prime ministerial Narendra Modi from Varanasi, was attacked with eggs and ink during his visit to the holy city last month.
Kejriwal has of late been heavily criticized over his decision to step down from office in Delhi just 49 days after the formation of AAP government in the national capital.
