Gold extends losses, down Rs 90 on sluggish demand

Traders said slackened demand from jewellers and retailers and absence of cues from the global markets as US market are closed today on account of 'Labor Day', kept pressure on gold prices.

Besides, diversion of funds towards the record-breaking equity market also weighed on gold prices, they said.

In Delhi, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity remained under pressure and shed another Rs 90 each to Rs 28,175 and Rs 27,975 per ten gram respectively. It had lost Rs 35 on Saturday's trade.

Sovereign, however, remained steady at Rs 24,600 per piece of eight gram.

On the other hand, silver ready recovered by Rs 25 to Rs 42,800 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 90 to Rs 42,140 per kg. The white metal had lost Rs 225 in the previous session.

Silver coins continued to be asked at last level of Rs 74,000 for buying and Rs 75,000 for selling of 100 pieces.

Gold ends lower on sluggish demand; silver eases

Traders said fall in demand from jewellers and retailers at existing levels mainly led to the fall in gold prices but a better trend overseas restricted losses.

Gold in Singapore, which normally sets price trend on the domestic front, added 0.3 percent to USD 1,284.83 an ounce.

In Delhi, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity met with resistance at current levels and drifted by Rs 85 each to Rs 28,175 and Rs 27,975 per ten gram respectively. It had gained Rs 230 on Tuesday.

Sovereign, however, remained steady at Rs 24,600 per piece of eight gram in limited deals.

In a similar fashion, silver ready turned weak and ended Rs 300 lower at Rs 42,700 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 145 to Rs 42,050 per kg. The white metal had gained Rs 400 in Tuesday's trade.

Meanwhile, silver coins continued to trade at previous level of Rs 74,000 for buying and Rs 75,000 for selling of 100 pieces on scattered support.

Gold snaps two-day falling trend, up by Rs 250 on global cues

Gold in New York, which normally sets the price trend on the domestic front, rose by one per cent to USD 1,305.30 an ounce, a biggest gain since July 17 and silver by 1.1 per cent to USD 20.63 an ounce.In Delhi, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 per cent purity shot up by Rs 250 each to Rs 28,350 and Rs 28,150 per 10 grams, respectively. It had lost Rs 260 in last two days.Sovereigns followed suit and recovered by Rs 200 to Rs 24,900 per piece of eight grams.In a similar fashion, silver ready recovered by Rs 400 to Rs 44,800 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 265 to Rs 44,280 per kg. The white metal had lost Rs 1,000 in the previous two sessions.Silver coins, however, held steady at Rs 78,000 for buying and Rs 79,000 for selling of 100 pieces.

Gold climbs to fresh one-month high
Silver, however, held steady at Rs 44,900 per kg in restricted buying at prevailing levels.

Marketmen said increased buying by stockists and jewellers to meet wedding season demand, mainly attributed persistent rise in gold prices but a weak trend overseas, capped the gains.

A weak rupee against the dollar, making gold imports costlier also influenced prices, they said.

In Delhi, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity advanced by Rs 100 each to Rs 28,725 and Rs 28,525 per 10 grams respectively. On Friday, it had recorded its biggest single- day rise of Rs 605 this year. Sovereigns held flat at Rs 24,900 per piece of eight grams.

Gold regains Rs 28k level on firm global cues
In addition, depreciating rupee which again dipped below the 60-level against the dollar, making import of precious metals expensive, also influenced the sentiment.
  
Silver also gained for the third-day and jumped by Rs 500 to Rs 43,000 per kg on increased offtake by industrial units and coin makers.
  
Traders said sentiments remained firm after gold climbed to almost three-week high in global markets as escalating violence in Iraq spurred demand for the safe-haven.
  
They said hike in import tariff value on gold and silver also influenced bullion prices.
  
Meanwhile, the government on Monday hiked import tariff value on gold and silver to USD 411 per 10 grams and USD 632 per kg, respectively, as global prices has increased.
  
Gold in Singapore, which normally sets price trend on the domestic front, added 0.6 percent to USD 1,283.96 an ounce, the highest level since May 27 and silver climbed one percent to USD 19.88 an ounce, the highest level since May 14.
  
In Delhi, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity climbed Rs 240 each to Rs 28,030 and Rs 27,830 per ten grams, respectively, a level last seen on May 27. The yellow metal had gained Rs 690 in the previous five sessions.
  
Sovereign followed suit and advanced by Rs 100 to Rs 24,700 per piece of eight grams.
  
In a similar fashion, silver ready rose further by Rs 500 to Rs 43,000 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 450 to Rs 42,325 per kg. The white metal had gained Rs 1,300 in last two days.
  
Silver coins also spurted by Rs 1,000 to Rs 78,000 for buying and Rs 79,000 for selling of 100 pieces.

Gold, silver price falls on global cues
Silver also dropped by Rs 375 to Rs 40,625 per kg due to reduced offtake by industrial units.
  
Traders said that stockists selling in tandem with a weak global trend and low demand from jewellers mainly led to the fall in the precious metals prices.
  
Gold in New York, which normally sets price trend on the domestic front, fell by 0.1 percent to USD 1,252.50 an ounce and silver by 0.5 percent to USD 18.99 an ounce.
  
In Delhi, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity fell by Rs 150 each to Rs 27,100 and Rs 26,900 per ten gram respectively, while sovereign remained steady at Rs 24,400 per piece of eight gram.   

In a similar fashion, silver ready dropped by Rs 375 to Rs 40,625 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 280 to Rs 39,995 per kg. Silver coins continued to be asked at last level of Rs 75,000 for buying and Rs 76,000 for selling of 100 pieces.

Gold Rebounds To Hit Four-Month High; Silver Spurts

नई दिल्ली। विदेश में मजबूती के बीच त्योहारी खरीद के चलते सोने और चांदी में लगातार चौथे सत्र में तेजी जारी रही। इससे स्थानीय सराफा बाजार में सोमवार को पीली धातु फिर से 29 हजार के मनोवैज्ञानिक स्तर को पार कर गई। इस दिन यह 405 रुपये भड़ककर 29 हजार 260 रुपये प्रति दस ग्राम पर बंद हुई। बीते तीन सत्रों में यह 515 रुपये चढ़ी थी। 

इसी तरह औद्योगिक इकाइयों और सिक्का निर्माताओं की लिवाली से चांदी में 1,370 रुपये का तेज उछाल आया और यह 44 हजार 120 रुपये प्रति किलो हो गई। पिछले तीन सत्रों में इसमें 1,150 रुपये का सुधार आया था। चांदी सिक्का भी 2,000 की तेजी के साथ 82000-83000 रुपये प्रति सैकड़ा पर पहुंच गया। सराफा कारोबारियों का कहना है कि त्योहारी खरीद के चलते दोनों कीमती धातुओं की मांग बढ़ रही है। सरकार द्वारा आयात पर अंकुश लगाए जाने से इनकी आपूर्ति मांग के मुकाबले कम है। इसी वजह से इनकी चमक में तेजी आई है। 

ग्लोबल कीमतों में मजबूती का भी असर घरेलू बाजार पर पड़ रहा है। सिंगापुर में सोना बढ़कर 1333.94 डॉलर प्रति औंस पर बंद हुआ। स्थानीय बाजार में सोना आभूषण के भाव 405 रुपये चमक 29 हजार 60 रुपये प्रति दस ग्राम हो गए। हालांकि, आठ ग्राम वाली गिन्नी मांग के अभाव में 200 रुपये टूटकर 24 हजार 200 रुपये पर आ गई। चांदी साप्ताहिक डिलीवरी 1,320 रुपये के फायदे में 44 हजार 20 रुपये प्रति किलो बोली गई।
