Freedome app, to use internet anonymously

Freedome app is very simple to use. One just has to choose what one desires to block (phone, cell data, wifi data, bluetooth), select the time interval of blocking and hit start.

This new app runs on Android and iOS and understands how helpless most people feel when they worry about being watched all the time while using mobile phones. To put it simply, the software is a blend of virtual private network, anti-tracking, anti-virus and anti-phishing technology rolled into one package.

The Freedome UI features just an On-Off toggle at the interface one lands on upon clicking open the app. It connects to the internet through the company’s F-Secure Cloud or chooses to hide your IP address by picking another country such as US, UK, Finland, Germany and Sweden as your virtual location.

The developers of this app confirm that advertisers won’t be able to track users’ locations and there’s less reason to fear public Wi-Fi hotspots owing to the data encryption technology.

If one is traveling abroad and want to stream content from a favorite online service which is not available outside one’s home country, can use fake your virtual location for the same.

The app offers you stats on the number of viruses, harmful sites and trackers among other things that it has managed to deal with appropriately.

Aircel launches 4G services in four circles

With this launch, Aircel has become the second telecom operator after Airtel to provide services under all the three existing technologies of 2G, 3G and 4G LTE.

“Our existing technological leadership position further lends to providing a promising and reliable 4G LTE service to our customers. The wireless broadband services offered will help customers transform their workplaces and homes into ‘smarter’ entities,” chief marketing officer of Aircel Anupam Vasudev said.

Aircel had 71.15 million subscribers at the end of April, as per data released by industry body Cellular Operators Association of India.

It holds 20MHz of spectrum in the 4G LTE 2300 MHz band across eight circles - Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Assam and North East and Jammu and Kashmir.

33 percent of tweets are at fourth grade reading level: Study

The test found that teen sensation Justin Bieber and pop star Lady Gaga tweet at fifth grade level, while Obama tweets like a seventh grader.

According to TIME magazine's analysis of one million public tweets, 33 percent of tweets test at a fourth grade reading level.

The test relied upon a commonly used reading comprehension survey known as Simple Measure of Gobbledygook (SMOG) to assess the complexity of messages sent on the micro-blogging site.

"Gobbledygook" is a word of three or more syllables.

The results show that most tweets require no more than a fourth grade education to comprehend.

"Although a tweet's limit of 140 characters makes it difficult to compose a message at a higher reading level. But not impossible. This test did pick up a handful of 12th-grade tweets," the report said.

Tweets were downloaded with the Twitter application programming interface (API) and run through a version of the SMOG test written for JavaScript.

World's first 3D smart-phone from Amazon

In a YouTube video, the online retail player shows the first glimpse of this device - that can be unveiled as early as June 18 in Seattle, Washington DC, media reports said.

The new phone may have an eye-tracking technology and four cameras to produce 3D images. In a YouTube video from Amazon, some people can be seen swaying from side to side, perhaps experimenting with the 3D view.

According to a report on the Verge website, the 3D technology could include displaying maps or viewing home-screen images in 3D.The device may also enable users to operate the phone or navigate apps by tilting the phone.

180 Google satellites to bring entire planet online

Google is planning to launch 180 satellites to provide web access for them, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

The multinational firm is reported to be spending over USD 1 billion on the technology, to be developed by Greg Wyler, founder of satellite communications start-up O3b Networks.

The small yet high-capacity satellites will orbit the earth at ‘lower altitudes than traditional satellites’.

Project Loon, a separate project by Google, is designing high-altitude balloons to provide broadband service to remote parts of the world, the report added.

Smartphone battery that gets charged in 30 seconds!

Based on nanodots, the new battery is capable of moving electric current at the speed of lightning. This is way faster compared to batteries that we currently have.

"At the moment, the battery design is only in the prototype stage. In about two years, these magic batteries will be hitting the stores," Doron Myersdorf, CEO of StoreDot, was quoted as saying.

To make nanodots, the researchers used tiny organic crystals that were only two nanometres long. Through a self-assembly process, these crystals were able to form nanodots.

"They possess a natural glow, something that could be used to illuminate the display of the handsets. This will be equivalent to the kinds of displays that are currently in use," Myersdorf added.

The progress of the battery was demonstrated recently at the 'Think Next' symposium in Tel Aviv, where the battery charged a Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone in just 26 seconds, the reports added.
