Movie review: Humshakals – Triple roles, triple trash

Humshakals is a disaster of a movieMovie:  Humshakals

Director: Sajid Khan

Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Bipasha Basu, Ram Kapoor, Tamannaah Bhatia, Esha Gupta, Chunky Pandey, Satish Shah

Storyline:  Ashok (Saif Ali Khan) and Kumar (Riteish Deshmukh) are the two protagonists in the movie.  While Kumar is the owner of a comedy club, Ashok is a struggling stand-up comedian and the successor to the incredible Singhania empire.

The story takes a twist when Ashok’s iniquitous uncle, Kunwar Amar Nath Singh (Ram Kapoor), who has his devilish eyes on the Singhania empire, plots to send Ashok to a mental asylum, absurdly called ‘Lord Cray G. Mental Asylum’.

His uncle’s plan is as straight as an arrow. He wants to somehow establish Ashok mentally unstable and take over his property.

When both Ashok and Kumar end up in the mental asylum, to their astonishment they find another Ashok and Kumar there with exactly the same names and they are actually mentally unsound, speaking like unbalanced kids.

The whole movie then revolves around the sane pair of Ashok and Kumar being mistaken for the mentally unstable lunatics and vice-versa, which leads to nothing but a dreary eye-sore.

In the entire movie, Ashok’s wicked uncle keeps plotting against his nephew and how his nephew with the help of his best friends and three glitzy heroines defies him.
