Besides, dollar's weakness against other currencies overseas also supported the rupee, forex dealers said.
On Monday, the rupee rose by 25 paise to end at 61.10 against the greenback on fresh selling of dollars by exporters and banks, in line with other Asian currencies helped by upbeat trade data from china.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex rose 123.18 points, or 0.47 percent, to 26,507.25 in morning trade on Tuesday.
