'Singham' has become a cult character: Ajay Devgn

Ajay Devgn
"Singham has become a character which can go on and on. Like in Hollywood we had 'Rambo' (character). 'Singham' can combat at the age of 50 or 60. It becomes lovable whoever plays it. It has become a cult character," Ajay said in an interview here.

The actor feels doing action at the age of 45 is not difficult provided proper care is taken.

"It is fine (to do action) at the age of 45. Even after 40 it is ok. I think if you keep yourself fit and fine it is ok. But there are few things that you have to take care of, like the old injuries that we have had. When you do heavy duty action you have to take care of yourself," Ajay said.

Ajay feels there is a difference in the way action scenes are designed today. "Doing action scene in films has definitely changed. It has become safer and easier because of cables. I feel if I can do action directly without using cable, then I do it. You enjoy doing real action. Action was tiring and difficult earlier, today it is easier," he said.

"I keep working out on regular basis. In between I had left workout for a year or so and was eating a lot, so it took some time for me to get in shape. But, there were no special preparations that I did for the film," he said.

Director Rohit Shetty and Ajay have worked together on several films and share a good rapport. Rohit plans all the action scenes keeping Ajay in mind.

With 'Singham Returns', Ajay says everything is multiplied, from script, to body, to scale of the film; they have done better than the first installment.

I want to stand out with my roles: Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt
Alia, who is the daughter of Mahesh Bhatt, had a tailor-made entry into Bollywood with Karan Johar's hit 'Student of the Year'.

The 21-year-old actor, however, impressed critics in her subsequent outings in 'Highway' and 'Two States'.
In her fourth film, Alia plays a gusty heroine, who is a woman of today.

"Kavya (her character) is very fiery and lively girl. She wears her heart on her sleeves. Coming from a small place, she holds her values dear but she is a woman of today. She has a strong opinion. This is why she is the one who is carrying the hero in the film's posters," Alia told in an interview.

The actress admits that the pressure has increased now that she has three films behind her but that would not influence her film choices.

"The pressure is always there. But I know that I want to do good films. I want to stand out with all my characters and I want to give the audience as much variety as possible," she says.

She has reteamed with her 'Student of the Year' co-star Varun Dhawan for a second time for 'Humpty Sharma'. Alia says their chemistry will look good because they were more comfortable with camera this time.
"The chemistry is good because of the characters we are playing. Also, I think we were not as nervous and as confused about what we were supposed to do in front of the camera. It became very organic," she says.
After crooning for 'Sooha Saha' in Imtiaz Ali's 'Highway', Alia took to mic again to sing Rahet Fateh Ali-rendered 'Samjhawan' in an unplugged version.

The self-confessed bathroom singer was not scared to take on the popular number.

"I was not scared because I am not a professional singer. I knew that if I mess up I would not get as much flak. I love to sing. It gives me a certain sense of peace. I am not singing to impress anybody and I am very proud and happy that I got an opportunity to sing this song," she says.

Ask her whether she would like to take it beyond, Alia says she wants to explore her singing side further.
"Definitely, I want to explore it. I was advised by A R Rahman to take my singing seriously and I am thinking about it."

The film has been directed by debutant Shashank Khaitan and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.

'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania', slated to release this Friday, also marks the debut of TV actor Siddharth Shukla of 'Balika Vadhu' fame.

I am here to stay, says Sidharth Malhotra

Sidharth Malhotra
The 29-year-old actor, who was criticised for his inability to dance or to emote well in his debut film ‘Student of the Year’, passed off with flying colours despite the fact at the box office.

Sidharth feels that he has successfully converted the non-believers to believers with his latest film.

"It was first experience with this kind of box office success. I feel I have reached out to more number of people with this film than I ever had; so that is exciting. Now, I feel that I am here to stay. More people think that I am here to stay and I deserve this place," Sidharth said in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.

"It is satisfying to see that I took risk two years ago by choosing a genre like this and character like this which is so different from what I have done before and that is paying off. It could have gone wrong. It is very satisfying as an actor to try something new and see that the audience is liking it," added the actor, who played romantic roles in his first two films.

The Delhi boy had three releases so far. ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ is the only film that underperformed of all his movies.

However, the actor won a lot of fans because of his looks.

"We are not just standing and posing. Are we? Looks are part and parcel. I have tried to change my looks in all the three films. People think he is a good looking boy, so he can't act, that is a notion here. So to break that, to go beyond looks was also a challenge to me," he said.

Sidharth, who plays Guru - a criminal transformed into a good guy by the power of love - in the romantic thriller, says, “The film was also an endeavour to turn all the non-believers into believers.”

“People who did not see the craft or who were not convinced about my craft or about my space here, I think 'Ek Villain' is the best answer I could give them," he added.

The movie has earned him more than just fans; the 29-year-old says many filmmakers are approaching him post the success of ‘Ek Villain’.

Sidharth, who assisted director Karan Johar in the past, had thought of going behind the camera too. But the actor has changed his mind after the thunderous response to ‘Ek Villain’.

“I got into assistant direction. I thought of that as an option then but after the success of 'Ek Villain'… Nah. Why would I go behind the camera? I would like to be in front of the camera. I would be happier to play various characters. It is far more tough as a director," he said.
