6 injured in knife attack in China, suspect detained

At least six persons were injured after three knife-wielding men attacked commuters and passers-by at the busy Guangzhou railway station in south China on Tuesday, state media reports said.

The incident occurred at 11.30am at Guangzhou railway station square, the official news agency Xinhua quoted the police as saying.

One suspect was shot at by the police and detained. The detained suspect is receiving treatment at a local hospital and his identity has not been confirmed.

Police have launched a hunt for the remaining suspects who fled the scene after shots were fired.

Four persons, including three women, were rushed to the General Hospital of the Guangzhou Military Command where they are being treated...
