Five people have been killed and over 40 injured after a powerful sandstorm struck Tehran on Monday, blocking out the sun and turning the sky orange.
Strong winds lashed the Iranian capital – state television reported speeds of between 110 and 130 kilometres per hour.
The storm caused widespread damage, power cuts and traffic accidents as dust engulfed whole neighborhood.
Those who died are thought to have been hit by falling trees.
One eyewitness said: “the dust ball came out of nowhere and suddenly everywhere went dark.”..
