177 terrorists killed in North Waziristan: Pakistan Army

Pakistan military on Monday said that 177 "terrorists have been killed" in major military operation against the local and foreign militant groups in North Waziristan tribal region over the past two days.

"Operation in North Wazirastan Agency is progressing as per plan. No operation in civil populated areas has been started so far," the army said, adding North Wazirastan Agency has been isolated by deploying troops along its border with neighboring agencies and other tribal regions to block any movement of terrorists in and out of the Agency.

Releasing update about the casualties and other losses of the militants, the military said six hardcore terrorist hideouts were destroyed by jet aircraft early Monday in Shawal area of North Wazirastan Agency, bordering Afghanistan.

"In these precise strikes, 27 terrorists were killed. There is no civil population in the area," a military spokesman said in a statement...

Pak Taliban warns foreigners to leave country or face violence

Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said that Pakistan had buried the desire of its people for peace in the North Waziristan tribal region and launched a military operation to make its western backers happy.
  
"All international agencies, airlines and investors should immediately suspend all commercial ties with Pakistan and leave the country as we are in a state of war. Otherwise these foreign institutions or individuals will be responsible for any harm coming to them," he said in a statement.
  
Shahid said the money made by business relations with Pakistan is being used to fund the military operation and target the Muslims in the tribal region.
  
He vowed to fight hard and make "the attackers a symbol of destruction".
  
The statement came a day after Pakistan launched the much-awaited military operation against foreign and local militants hiding in sanctuaries near the Afghan border.
  
The operation was launched a week after the Pakistani Taliban brazenly attacked the Karachi airport.
  
At least 105 militants, including the Uzbek mastermind of the Karachi airport attack, were killed yesterday in early morning raids by air force bombers in Pakistan's troubled northwestern tribal region.
  
The jets bombed hideouts of terrorists in Degan and Dattakhel areas of North Waziristan.
  
The North Waziristan tribal region is considered as hub of al-Qaeda linked local and foreign terrorists.
  
The North Waziristan Agency has been isolated by deploying troops along its border with neighbouring agencies and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) to block any movement of terrorists, a statement by the army's media wing said.

Taliban chief Mehsud killed in drone strike: Pak Media

पेशावर/इस्लामाबाद। पाकिस्तान के उत्तरी वजीरिस्तान में अमेरिकी ड्रोन हमले में छह तालिबान आतंकियों सहित संगठन का मुखिया हकीमुल्ला महसूद भी मारा गया। पाकिस्तानी मीडिया के मुताबिक, अमेरिकी खुफिया एजेंसी सीआइए के ड्रोन हमले में महसूद के अलावा उसका चाचा, अंगरक्षक तारिक महसूद और ड्राइवर अब्दुल्ला महसूद भी मारे गए। 

पाकिस्तान तालिबान ने हकीमुल्ला की मौत की पुष्टि करते हुए बताया कि शनिवार दोपहर 3 बजे मीरानशाह इलाके में उसको सुपुर्द-ए-खाक किया जाएगा।

खुफिया सूत्रों के मुताबिक, दांडा दरपाखेल के जिस परिसर पर दो मिसाइलों से हमला किया गया, वह पूरी तरह नष्ट हो गया है। हमले के समय परिसर में तालिबान की अहम बैठक चल रही थी। अब तक अधिकारियों की ओर से महसूद के मारे जाने के संबंध में कोई टिप्पणी नहीं की गई है।

गौरतलब है कि अमेरिका पाकिस्तान के आदिवासी इलाकों में आतंकियों पर लगातार ड्रोन हमले कर उनकी कमर तोड़ रहा है। हालांकि, इससे पहले भी पाकिस्तान के साथ ही अंतरराष्ट्रीय मीडिया में महसूद के मारे जाने के समाचार कई बार आ चुके हैं, लेकिन वह कुछ समय तक भूमिगत रहने के बाद फिर सामने आ जाता है।

पाकिस्तान के गृह मंत्री चौधरी निसार अली खान ने प्रधानमंत्री नवाज शरीफ व नेताओं के साथ आज की घटना पर बैठक बुलाकर चर्चा की। चौधरी का दावा है कि ये हमले पाकिस्तान की शांति की कोशिशों पर पानी फेर रहे हैं। उनके मुताबिक शनिवार को एक प्रतिनिधिमंडल तालिबान से बात करने के लिए जाने वाला था। 

कुछ ही समय पहले अमेरिका के विशेष बल ने तहरीक-ए-तालिबान पाकिस्तान के उप-प्रमुख लतीफ महसूद को अफगानिस्तान में धर दबोचा था। शुक्रवार को किया गया हमला दो दिन में दूसरा ड्रोन अटैक था। गुरुवार के हमले में तीन संदिग्ध आतंकी मारे गए थे। पिछले महीने पाकिस्तान के पीएम नवाज शरीफ की अमेरिका यात्रा के बाद भी यह दूसरा ड्रोन हमला था। 

सूत्रों के मुताबिक, शुक्रवार को जिस परिसर को निशाना बनाया गया वह तालिबान पाकिस्तान का केंद्रीय कार्यालय था, जहां महसूद अक्सर आता था। बैतुल्ला महसूद के मारे जाने के बाद अगस्त, 2009 में हकीमुल्ला ने तहरीक-ए-तालिबान की कमान अपने हाथ में ली थी।

Evidence suggests Pak gave approval to drone strikes:UN report

संयुक्त राष्ट्र। पाकिस्तान भले ही सार्वजनिक तौर पर ड्रोन हमलों की आलोचना करता हो, लेकिन गुपचुप तरीके से उसने इन हमलों की इजाजत दी थी। संयुक्त राष्ट्र की एक रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि इस बात के पुख्ता सुबूत हैं कि पाकिस्तानी सेना, सरकार और खुफिया एजेंसी के शीर्ष सदस्यों ने देश के कबायली क्षेत्र में अमेरिकी खुफिया एजेंसी सीआइए को ड्रोन हमले करने की मंजूरी दी थी।

'आतंकवाद से मुकाबला करते हुए मानवाधिकारों और मौलिक स्वतंत्रता का संरक्षण और संव‌र्द्धन' विषय पर विशेष दूत बेन एमरसन ने शुक्रवार को संयुक्त राष्ट्र को सौंपी गई रिपोर्ट में यह बात कही गई है। यह आतंकवाद निरोधी अभियानों में मानवरहित विमान के उपयोग पर अंतरिम रिपोर्ट है। 

यह रिपोर्ट ऐसे समय सामने आई है जब पाकिस्तानी प्रधानमंत्री नवाज शरीफ ने बुधवार को अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा से वाशिंगटन में मुलाकात के दौरान पाकिस्तानी सरजमीं पर ड्रोन हमले बंद करने का आग्रह किया था। 24 पन्ने की रिपोर्ट में एमरसन ने कहा कि इस बात के पुख्ता सुबूत हैं कि जून, 2004 से जून, 2008 के दौरान संघ प्रशासित कबायली क्षेत्र में ड्रोन हमले पाकिस्तानी सेना और खुफिया एजेंसी के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों की मंजूरी और सरकार की मौन स्वीकृति के बाद किए गए। 

इस साल मार्च में पाकिस्तान के विदेश मंत्रालय द्वारा एमरसन को दिए गए आंकड़ों के मुताबिक कबायली क्षेत्र में वर्ष 2004 से कम से कम 330 ड्रोन हमले किए गए। इनमें करीब 2200 लोग मारे गए जबकि 600 घायल हो गए। मृतकों में 400 नागरिक भी शामिल है। रिपोर्ट में 33 ऐसे ड्रोन हमलों के बारे में बताया गया है जिसमें निर्दोष नागरिक मारे गए। अमेरिका का कहना है कि यह हमले आतंकियों को निशाना बनाकर किए गए जबकि पाकिस्तान सरकार का दावा है कि ड्रोन हमले के ज्यादातर पीड़ित आम नागरिक हैं।
