All not well between Maksim and 'Jhalak...' makers?

Madhuri Dixit with Maksim Chmerkovskiy on 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa'
Maksim Chmerkovskiy, the Ukrainian Latin Ballroom dance champion, choreographer, and instructor who has just joined as a judge on dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, is apparently finding it difficult to cope with the show’s format.

Says a source, “Maksim has joined Remo D’Souza, Madhuri Dixit and Karan Johar as a judge but he has come on the show a little late because he had visa issues and thus couldn’t get to India in time. But now that he’s here, the star dancer is finding it very difficult to understand Hindi and this is creating a big problem for him.”

The source explains that Maksim, who is now in the news for apparently being Jennifer Lopez’s latest love interest, was told that the judges would give feedback and announce their verdict in English. “But since a lot of Hindi is spoken on the show, he is not able to follow all that’s happening. He is also upset about being mocked; he realises that jokes are being made at his expense,” says the source...

Hrithik Roshan's fast & furious move
Hrithik Roshan has given his consent to collaborate with Hollywood director Rob Cohen in his next which will be set in India.

His May 2010 release Kites was supposed to be his stepping stone to Hollywood and now Hrithik Roshan seems set to finally make a splash in the West. On June 4, Hrithik Roshan refuelled the crossover rumours when he and his parents (Rakesh and Pinky Roshan) were spotted dining with Hollywood filmmaker Rob Cohen in Mumbai.

Mirror has it that Cohen visited Mumbai to cast Hrithik in his next venture and the actor has said `Yes'.

The filmmaker, who has helmed hits like The Fast and the Furious and XXX, had a long chat with Hrithik about the film, an action flick which will be shot in India.

The film will also star a parallel male lead which will be played by a Hollywood actor and Cohen will make another visit to the country, when he is ready with the final script.

A source close to the development told Mirror, "Cohen had made a few earlier trips to Mumbai and met Hrithik. This one finalised the deal."

This will be Hrithik's first Hollywood flick but the 40-year old star is already quite popular in Hollywood.

For one, Twilight star Kristen Stewart had reportedly confessed that if ever she had a baby boy, she would want him to look like Hrithik Roshan but with then boyfriend Robert Pattinson's eyes...

Why Rajinikanth fans will have a long wait for Kochadaiiyaan

Screenshot from Official trailer.
Superstar Rajinikanth’s eagerly awaited Kochadaiiyaan, which was to release today (9 May), has been postponed to 23 May. It has created tremors in Indian cinema as the film was to release in six languages including Tamil, Telugu and Hindi in 2D and 3D at over 3500 screens worldwide.

Rajinikanth is the biggest brand in south Indian cinema and a star with a huge opening and charisma. Remember, his last film Robot (Endhiran in Tamil) in Hindi was a huge hit across the world. Rajinikanth has terrific influence over Tamil Nadu politics, though he is not affiliated to any political party.

He is so influential among the youth and family audiences, that Narendra Modi, the PM-in-waiting, paid a courtesy visit to his Poes Garden residence in Chennai, during his election campaign in Tamil Nadu. Kochadaiiyaan’s ‘no show’ today has now cast a pall of gloom over his hardcore fans.

Said ‘Rajini’ Ravi, a die-hard fan of the actor who runs one of his fan clubs : “ We were planning to celebrate Kochadaiiyaan release in a big way with 100-feet cut-outs, ‘paal abhishekam’ (milk bath of the cut-out!), latest LED banners and a fireworks display. But our plans have gone awry. We are very disappointed and this has never happened to a Thalaivar (chief) film.”..

Sonali Raut and Zoya Afroz (Miss India 2013, Second Runner-up), who are making their Bollywood debut with The Xpose, came to blows while making a promotional appearance on Kapil Sharma's television show.

It seems the two have a history — the situation had apparently turned ugly while shooting a catfight sequence for the film, featuring Himesh Reshammiya and Yo Yo Honey Singh. But back then, they were pacified.

Matters heated up once again when the two came face-to-face during the TV show. Says a source, "Sonali confronted Zoya in the make-up van and reminded her about their earlier tiff. She also asked her to behave well, saying she would otherwise hit Zoya." ..

Shilpa Shetty: I Would Rather Spend Time With My Son Than in Spa
Shilpa Shetty's IOSIS spa and wellness chain is branching out to tier-II and tier-III cities. It's a feeling even she relates to as a mother.

Shilpa and her businessman husband, Raj, have a son named Viaan, who will turn two later this month.

Distancing myself from the cinema in the 90s was a mistake: Amitabh Bachchan
Even after his prolific four decades in the Bollywood, megastar Amitabh Bachchan says he still gets cold feet before the release of his films.

The 71-year-old actor, who had taken a sabbatical from work in the 1990s, feels that distancing himself from cinema was a mistake.

Movie review: O Teri is not worth watching

O Teri is a perfect example of an exciting trailer and a terrible final product.  Debut director Umesh Bist makes a travesty of the 1983 cult classic Jaane Bhi do Yaaro. Unlike that film O Teri does not have a single redeeming feature.

Two good-for-nothing TV journalists AIDS (Bilal Amrohi) and PP (Pulkit Samrat) have been fired by their boss Monsoon (Sarah Jane-Dias). In order to rise to instant fame they are looking for that ultimate scoop, which is hard to come by their way.

The film seeks inspiration from factual events that have occurred in the country. At the heart of O Teri is the misappropriation of funds that that took place in the 2010 Common Wealth games and the corrupt ways in which contracts were allotted by the organising committee.

O Teri's noble intentions end there. We don't think they were serious in any case. Calling you lead character AIDS is not funny.  The film's writing, characterisation and editing is so slip shod that you are left wondering what the makers were thinking. Its two protagonists who are supposed to be journalists behave as if they would have been better playing street side Romeos or gym rats.

A dog is worshipped for its power to predict the future, a politician is discovered indulging in an homosexual escapade behind closed doors and there is even a bridge which collapses. The two journalists happen to be at the site when bridge comes down. The filmmakers had enough matter to turn it into a riveting screenplay. Alas, they focused on vulgar jokes, unnecessary songs and some juvenile slapstick moments. What you get at the end of it all is a shoddy product which is not worth watching even if someone paid for your ticket.
