Nationalist Congress Party, NCP has said that the matter related to BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi should be put to rest as Special Investigation Team had given Modi a clean chit. Reacting to Rahul Gandhi's comments on Gujarat riots, NCP leader & Union Minister Praful Patel said that since a judicial probe has given Modi a clean chit, the matter should rest. He said, the judicial pronouncement should be respected.
Meanwhile, Congress downplayed its ally NCP's contention that any judicial pronouncement on Narendra Modi's alleged involvement in the post-Godhra riots should not be questioned.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala told reporters in New Delhi that all political parties are entitled to an opinion on political issues.
