Akhilesh leaves for Netherlands as UP faces power crisis

Accompanied by ministers and senior bureaucrats, including Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan, Yadav will meet industry captains and government officials in the Netherlands.

The visit has been criticised by opposition parties, as it comes in the wake of a power crisis and drought in two-thirds of the state.

"Such trips are necessary, but its timing and the fact that both the CM and the chief secretary are away in such crisis situation speaks volumes of the casual approach of the government," said Vijay Bahadur Pathak, state spokesman of the BJP.

Leader of Opposition Swamy Prasad Maurya said, "The tour will make no difference" and accused the state government of being "indifferent to the plight of the common man.

"Soon after arriving in Amsterdam, Yadav is slated to visit the world's biggest flower auction centre Flora Holland at Aalsmeer to gather knowledge about techniques to grow flowers, their upkeep and marketing.

Uttar Pradesh is looking to expand its floral growth and maximize its exports.The same day, Yadav will hold a meeting with officers of the Netherlands Agro Food and Technology Centre.

This is relevant because major part of the harvest is wasted in the state due to lack of post-harvesting technology and collection.

The Chief Minister is also scheduled to meet The Hague Mayor Jozias Van Aartsen. The UP contingent is also likely to take tips on developing cycling as an option for commuters. More than 57 percent people of the Netherlands use bicycles.

The delegation will try to understand ways to have cycling tracks in places like Agra, Lucknow, Noida and Greater Noida in the state, an official accompanying the Chief Minister said.

Yadav will also visit the International Court of Justice at The Hague and meet trade groups and some NRIs.

Gold extends losses, down Rs 90 on sluggish demand

Traders said slackened demand from jewellers and retailers and absence of cues from the global markets as US market are closed today on account of 'Labor Day', kept pressure on gold prices.

Besides, diversion of funds towards the record-breaking equity market also weighed on gold prices, they said.

In Delhi, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity remained under pressure and shed another Rs 90 each to Rs 28,175 and Rs 27,975 per ten gram respectively. It had lost Rs 35 on Saturday's trade.

Sovereign, however, remained steady at Rs 24,600 per piece of eight gram.

On the other hand, silver ready recovered by Rs 25 to Rs 42,800 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 90 to Rs 42,140 per kg. The white metal had lost Rs 225 in the previous session.

Silver coins continued to be asked at last level of Rs 74,000 for buying and Rs 75,000 for selling of 100 pieces.

United Bank of India declares Vijay Mallya as wilful defaulter

"We have declared Vijay Mallya and three other directors of Kingfisher Airlines as wilful defaulters," United Bank of India Executive Director Deepak Narang said.

The Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) of the bank has declared directors Ravi Nedungadi, Anil Kumar Ganguly and Subash Gupte as wilful defaulters.

Post this declaration, these persons and the entity would not be able to borrow from the bank in future. They would also lose Director-level positions in companies. Criminal proceeding could also be initiated against these persons if warranted.

Narang said the decision of GRC would be conveyed to the Finance Ministry, Reserve Bank of India, and Securities and Exchange Board of India for their information and action.

The GRC meeting was convened on Monday after a Calcutta High Court division bench allowed the bank to initiate the process of declaring them as wilful defaulters last week.

The GRC had asked directors to be present before it but no one turned up. Instead, they had sent a letter through their lawyer stating that they had filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in Supreme Court and pending the judgment the bank should not proceed in this regard.

The Kolkata-based bank is the first PSU lender to initiate the process of declaring Vijay Mallya and three other directors of the grounded Kingfisher Airlines as willful defaulters a couple of months ago.

Subsequently, other banks such as State Bank of India, IDBI Bank and Punjab National Bank have also initiated the process of declaring KFA and its directors as willful defaulters.

The bank's exposure to Kingfisher Airlines was around Rs 350 crore as part of consortium led by State Bank of India.

The consortium of 17 banks, has an outstanding debt of about Rs 4,022 crore from the now-grounded carrier and outside the consortium, the bank gave about Rs 60 crore loan for Pre-Delivery payment.

As part of the recovery process, banks in February last year decided to sell a portion of the collateral with them, including shares of its group companies United Spirits Ltd and Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd, Mallya's Goa villa, Kingfisher House in Mumbai and the Kingfisher brand, which was valued at over Rs 4,000 crore at the time it was pledged.

India and Japan to make roadmap of 21st century

भारतीय प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने अपने जापान के दौरे के तीसरे दिन सोमवार को टोक्यो में जापान उद्योगपतियों को संबोधित किया। इस मौके पर उन्होंनें जहां एक ओर वहां के उद्योगपतियों को भारत में निवेश के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया वहीं उन्होंने जापान से कई चीजों को सीखने की अपेक्षा भी जाहिर की। उन्होंने कहा कि 21 वीं सदी एशिया की होगी, जिसके लिए दशा और दिशा भारत-जापान मिलकर तैयार करेंगे। मोदी ने इस मंच से गुजरात के विकास मॉडल की भी चर्चा की।

जापान के उद्योगपतियों के साथ बैठक में उन्होंने भारत में आम जनता से किया गया गुड गवर्नेस का वादा निभाने का भी दावा किया। पीएम ने कहा कि सौ दिनों की सरकार ने इसकी एक बेहतरीन शुरुआत की है, लेकिन आम जनता की अपेक्षाएं बहुत हैं जिनपर उन्हें खरा उतरना होगा। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत विश्व का सबसे युवा देश है, क्योंकि यहां पर 60 फीसद से ज्यादा युवा हैं। इसके चलते 2020 में वर्क फोर्स के लिए भारत पर दुनिया की निगाह होगी।

मोदी ने कहा कि भारत अपने यहां पर जापान की तर्ज पर स्किल डेवलेपमेंट का विकास करना चाहता है। भारत में निवेश को बढ़ावा देने के लिए उन्होंने सिंगल विंडो की भी बात मंच से कही। प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि भारत जापान के साथ मिलकर विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में शोध करने का इच्छुक है। क्योंकि विकास के लिए निरंतर शोध आवश्यक है। मोदी ने इस मौके पर जापान की जनता को वर्षो बाद एक स्थिर सरकार चुनने के लिए बधाई भी दी। उन्होंने कहा कि दोनों देशों में वर्षो के बाद एक स्थिर और एक पार्टी की सरकार बनी है, दोनों देशों में स्थिरता है।

जापान के उद्योगपतियों को संबोधित करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि भारत का पिछला दशक काफी कठिनाइयों में गुजरा है। विकास दर में लगातार गिरावट से देश की अर्थव्यवस्था को खासा नुकसान हुआ है। लेकिन उनकी सरकार के सौ दिनों के अंदर जो उन्होंने शुरुआती कदम उठाए उसका भी परिणाम अब सामने आने लगा है। भारत की विकास दर में तेजी से सरकार की सही नीति और दशा स्पष्ट होती है। इससे हमारा आत्मविश्वास भी बढ़ा है। मोदी ने कहा कि गुजराती होने के नाते खून में बिजनेस है। उन्होंने कहा कि 125 करोड़ भारतीय चाहते हैं अपने जीवन में विकास चाहते हैं। इस मौके पर वह उन दिनों को भी याद करना नहीं भूले जब वह गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री के तौर पर यहां आए थे।

आज ही द्विपक्षीय सुरक्षा और आर्थिक संबंधों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए पीएम की जापान के प्रधानमंत्री शिंजो अबे से वार्ता होगी। जिसके बाद कई समझौतों पर भी हस्ताक्षर किए जाने की भी उम्मीद है। दोनों प्रधानमंत्री आज ही एक संयुक्त प्रेस कान्फ्रेंस भी करेंगे। मोदी के सम्मान में टोक्यो में अकासका महल में एक समारोह का आयोजन किया जाएगा। मोदी जापान के कई मंत्रियों से भी मुलाकात करेंगे। इसके बाद दोपहर 3 बजे के बाद मोदी के सम्मान में महाभोज का आयोजन किया जाएगा।

Jinder pulls rikshaw cart for her husband

बीच राह ठहर जाए कोई हमसफर। तब मालूम होता है कि साथ चलने का अर्थ क्या है। ऐसा अर्थ मालूम होते ही जिंदगी मुश्किल हो जाती है। इतनी मुश्किल कि हर चीज धुंधली नजर आती है। श्री मुक्तसर साहिब की इस महिला की मंजिल अब 'जिंदगी' है और इसी 'जिंदगी' की तलाश में यह बढ़े जा रही है.तिपहिया रिक्शा के पैडल मारती हुई। सुनकर अजीब लगे, लेकिन यह सच है। कड़वा नहीं, खारा सच।

जिंदर के दुख की दास्तां ऐसी है कि पत्थर दिल की आंखें भी नम हो जाएं। बच्चों की मौत के बाद जिंदर संभल भी न पाई थी कि जीवनसाथी ने बीच मझधार में साथ छोड़ दिया। जिंदगी को रफ्तार देने के लिए उसने रिक्शे को ही हमसफर बना लिया। जिंदर को रिक्शा चलाते देख शहर के लोगों को अब हैरत नहीं होती, लेकिन नंगे पांव व गले में काला कपड़ा डाले जिंदर को रिक्शा चलाते देख बाहर से आए लोग अचंभे से घिर जाते हैं।

28 साल की जिंदर मूलरूप से मानसा जिले के गांव छोटी मानसा की है। करीब सात-आठ साल पहले उसकी शादी धर्मकोट (मोगा) में ट्रक ड्राइवर रूप सिंह के साथ हुई थी। बेटी तीन साल की हुई तो हादसे में मौत हो गई, जबकि करीब चार साल के बेटे को डेंगू ने निगल लिया। बच्चों की मौत ने उसे तोड़ दिया, लेकिन जिस घटना ने जिंदर को बिखेरा वह था पति का छोड़कर चले जाना। डेढ़ साल पहले पति रूप सिंह उसे छोड़कर चला गया। जिंदर को पता चला कि पति किसी महिला के साथ श्री मुक्तसर साहिब में रहता है। वह मुक्तसर पहुंची और गोनियाना रोड स्थित गली नंबर-18 में रहने लगी, लेकिन पति नहीं मिला। रोजी-रोटी का संकट था। माता की गद्दी (चौकी) लगाने से वह दूसरे घरों में झाड़-पोंछा नहीं कर सकती थी और काम करने के लिए जमापूंजी भी नहीं थी। आखिरकार किराये पर रिक्शा लेकर निकल पड़ी। करीब एक साल से वह रिक्शा चला रही है। जिंदर बताती है कि वह अपने भाइयों पर बोझ नहीं बनना चाहती।

It's Akshay versus Akshay at the box office

आप सोच रहे होंगे कि 23 जनवरी को आखिर अक्षय कुमार की जिंदगी में ऐसा क्या घटने वाला है? दरअसल 23 जनवरी को अक्षय कुमार की दो फिल्में एक साथ रिलीज हो सकती है और अगर ऐसा हुआ तो ना सिर्फ दोनों फिल्मों के निर्माताओं को नुकसान उठाना पड़ेगा, बल्कि अक्षय भी दो फिल्मों के बीच फंस जाएंगे।

सूत्रों के मुताबिक अक्षय की दो फिल्में 'गब्बर' और 'बेबी' एक साथ 23 जनवरी 2015 को रिलीज होंगी। सूत्रों के मुताबिक इन दोनों फिल्मों के निर्माता हर हाल में 23 जनवरी 2015 को ही अपनी-अपनी फिल्म रिलीज करना चाहते हैं। लेकिन अगर ऐसा हुआ तो अक्षय एक साथ कैसे दो फिल्मों को एक ही समय पर प्रमोट करेंगे। जाहिर है अक्षय जिस फिल्म को वरीयता नहीं देंगे, उसके निर्माता-निर्देशक उनसे नाराज हो जाएंगे।

सूत्रों के मुताबिक, बेबी के निर्माता अपनी फिल्म को दूसरी किसी फिल्म के साथ रिलीज नहीं करना चाहते। इसके लिए उन्होंने गब्बर के निर्माता संजय लीला भंसाली से अपनी फिल्म की रिलीज डेट खिसकाने के लिए कहा है। लेकिन भंसाली ऐसा करने के मूड में नहीं हैं।

भंसाली से अभी तक इस मामले में कोई प्रतिक्रिया नहीं मिली है। लेकिन बेबी की सह निर्माता कंपनी टी सीरिज के अधिकारियों ने इस बात की पुष्टि कर दी है कि वो अपनी फिल्म को 23 जनवरी को ही रिलीज करेंगे।
