Rajinikanth returns with first trailer of Kochadaiiyaan

Kochadaiiyaan marks the return of Rajinikanth to the silver screen after three years; he last appeared in Robot, the Hindi version of Tamil blockbuster Endhiran. The superstar will be seen in a double role in the film. Deepika Padukone plays Princess Vadhana in Kochadaiiyaan.

Going by the trailer, the film promises to be a grand affair.

In the trailer, Rajinikanth is introduced as a people-loving, caring king Kochadaiiyaan. There are some interesting action scenes in this 3D film, which cash in on Rajinikanth's stardom.

Deepika makes a fleeting appearance in the trailer. In the few seconds that she is there, Deepika provides a beautiful and romantic relief to the action-packed video.

The name of the 3D extravaganza is a play on the word Kochadaiyan - meaning Lord Shiva. Rajinikanth appears like Shiva in some of the scenes from the trailer.

The movie is a saga of king Kochadaiyan Ranadhiran, a Pandyan king (710 - 735 AD).

The film has been directed by the actor's daughter, Soundarya Rajnikanth Ashwin. AR Rahman has given the music for the film.

Produced by Sunil Lulla and Sunanda Murali Manohar, Kochadaiiyaan is slated to hit theatres on April 11, 2014.
