Hollywood film The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will release on Indian screens on May 2, a day before it hits theatres in the US.
The movie will release here in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu; the audience can view it in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D.
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will reprise their roles as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy in the second film of this franchise.
“The release date will take advantage of the fact that most states have a public holiday on May 1," Kercy Daruwala, managing director, Sony Pictures India, said in a statement.
“As it is, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 releases during the opportune school and college vacation period which is ideal for our audience," he added.
The Spider-Man franchise is said to have garnered a larger box office than any other Hollywood superhero franchise in India.
The Amazing Spider-Man had minted Rs. 34 crore during its opening weekend in 2012, beating the record earlier set by Avatar.
The first movie showcased the struggle between the ordinary obligations of actor Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man.
But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter confronts an enemy far more powerful than him.
And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) returns, Peter realises that all of his enemies have one thing in common the dreaded corporation OsCorp.
