Rahul gets furious in Parliament on denial of debate over communal violence

Congress’ demand to adjourn the House proceedings to have a discussion on the issue of rising communal violence incidents in the country, especially in Uttar Pradesh, was swiftly rejected by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.

Rahul said Congress was not allowed to speak in the House, adding that the government doesn’t believe in conducting discussions in the Lok Sabha.

“We are not being allowed to speak in the House. We are asking for a discussion,” Rahul told reporters outside the Parliament.

“There is a mentality in the government that discussion is not acceptable. Everybody feels it. We feel it. There is a mood in Parliament that only one man's voice counts for anything in this country,” he added.

Several incidents of communal violence have transpired in the country of late with Uttar Pradesh suffering the maximum brunt.

When reporters asked Rahul about his uncommon show of protest, the 44-year old retorted that he has always raised his voice in the Parliament...
